Chamberlain Coffee runs this store, this website, and the information, content, functions, tools, products, and services connected with them to offer customers a curated shopping experience (collectively, the “Services”). Shopify powers the Services for us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you visit or use the Services, complete a purchase or another transaction, or communicate with us. If this Privacy Policy conflicts with our Terms of Service on the collection, processing, or disclosure of personal information, this Privacy Policy governs that subject.
Please review this Privacy Policy carefully. Accessing or using any Service means that you acknowledge having read it and understand the information practices described here.
Personal information we collect or process
In this policy, “personal information” means information that identifies, or can reasonably be linked to, you or another individual. It excludes information collected anonymously and information that has been de-identified so it cannot identify or reasonably be connected with a person. Depending on your interaction with the Services, your location, and what applicable law permits or requires, we may collect or process the categories below, including inferences drawn from them.
- Contact details, such as your name, street address, billing and shipping addresses, telephone number, and email address.
- Financial details, including credit or debit card and financial-account numbers, payment-card and account information, transaction details, payment method, payment confirmation, and related payment information.
- Account details, including username, password, security questions, preferences, and settings.
- Transaction details, such as products you view, place in a cart, add to a wishlist, buy, return, exchange, or cancel, together with prior transactions.
- Communications you send to us, including the contents of customer-support inquiries.
- Device details, including information about your device, browser, network connection, IP address, and other unique identifiers.
- Usage details describing when and how you interact with or move through the Services.
Where personal information comes from
We may obtain personal information directly from you when you open an account, visit or use the Services, contact us, or otherwise provide it. We may also collect it automatically from your device through the Services, cookies, and similar technologies. Service providers may supply information when they provide technology or process data for us, and we may receive information from partners or other third parties.
How we use personal information
- Providing, tailoring, and improving the Services. This includes performing our contract with you; processing payments; fulfilling orders; remembering preferences and products of interest; sending account notices; handling purchases, returns, exchanges, and other transactions; creating and administering accounts; arranging shipping; enabling reviews; and personalizing recommendations and the shopping experience.
- Marketing and advertising. We may send promotional communications by email, text, or postal mail and show advertisements on the Services or other websites, including advertising informed by prior purchases, cart activity, and other interactions.
- Security and fraud prevention. We use information to authenticate accounts, provide secure payment and shopping, identify and investigate suspected fraudulent, unlawful, unsafe, or malicious activity, take appropriate action, protect public safety, and secure the Services. You remain responsible for protecting account credentials and should not share access details.
- Communicating with you. Information helps us answer you, provide customer support and effective service, and maintain our business relationship.
- Legal purposes. We may comply with law and valid legal process, respond to law-enforcement or government requests, investigate or participate in civil discovery, litigation, or other adversarial proceedings, and enforce or investigate possible breaches of our terms and policies.
How we disclose personal information
Where there is a legitimate purpose consistent with this policy, we may disclose personal information in the circumstances below.
- To Shopify, vendors, and other providers performing services for us, including IT administration, payment processing, analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment, and shipping.
- To business and marketing partners that advertise or provide marketing services. Shopify, for example, supports personalized advertising based on activity across merchants and websites. Those partners use information under their own privacy notices. Where local law gives you a right to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, you may exercise it through the available opt-out controls.
- When you instruct, ask, or consent to a disclosure, including disclosures necessary to ship products or resulting from social-media widgets and login integrations.
- To our affiliates or elsewhere within our corporate group.
- In a corporate transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy; to meet legal duties, including subpoenas, search warrants, and similar demands; to enforce applicable terms or policies; or to protect the Services, us, our users, or others and their rights.
Our relationship with Shopify
Shopify hosts the Services and processes information about access to and use of them so the Services can be delivered and improved. Information submitted through the Services is transmitted to Shopify and other parties that may operate outside your country. We also use Shopify enhanced features that combine information from interactions with this store, other merchants, and Shopify to protect, improve, and grow the business. For those enhanced features, Shopify is responsible for that processing and for requests to exercise applicable rights. Details are available in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Third-party websites and links
Links in the Services may lead to platforms operated by unaffiliated third parties. Review their privacy, security, and other terms before using them. We do not guarantee and are not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy, completeness, or reliability of those platforms. Material shared in public or semi-public places, including third-party social networks, may be visible and used without limitation by other users or third parties. A link does not itself endorse the platform, owner, or content unless we say otherwise.
Children’s data
The Services are not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the age of majority where they live. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied personal information may contact us to ask for deletion. As of this policy’s effective date, we have no actual knowledge that we “sell” or “share,” as those terms are defined by applicable law, personal information belonging to anyone under 16.
Security and retention
No security method is perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot promise perfect security. Information may also be insecure while in transit, so do not send sensitive or confidential information through an unsecured channel. Retention periods vary according to factors such as account administration, delivery of the Services, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and enforcement of contracts and policies.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of these rights. They are not absolute, may arise only in specified circumstances, and may be denied where law permits.
- Access or know: request access to personal information we hold.
- Deletion: ask us to delete personal information we maintain.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Portability: obtain a copy of personal information and, where available and subject to exceptions, ask that it be transferred to another party.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising: where local law provides this right, direct us not to sell or share information or use it for targeted advertising.
If Global Privacy Control is enabled in your browser, we will treat the signal as an opt-out request for that browser and device where applicable. If the device can be linked to a Shopify account, the request will also be applied to that account. Information about the signal is available at https://globalprivacycontrol.org/. We do not recognize other browser or device “Do Not Track” signals.
Promotional emails can be stopped through the unsubscribe control in those messages. Even after opting out of promotions, you may still receive non-promotional communications about your account or orders.
You may use controls presented in the Services or the contact details below to exercise an applicable right. Shopify’s own processing and related rights are described at https://privacy.shopify.com/en. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right. We may verify your identity as law permits or requires. An authorized agent may submit a request, but we will require proof of authorization and may ask you to verify directly. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Complaints
Contact us below with concerns about our processing. Depending on your location, you may also appeal a decision using those contact details or complain to your local data-protection authority.
International transfers
We may transfer, store, and process personal information outside the country where you live. A transfer from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom will rely on a recognized transfer mechanism, such as the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent instrument issued by the appropriate UK authority, unless the destination has formally been found to provide adequate protection.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy for operational, legal, regulatory, or other reasons. The updated policy will be posted here, its “Last updated” date will change, and any notice required by law will be provided.
